On April 4, 2006 almost 65,000 voters in 32 Wisconsin voted in a clear majority (61% to 39%) to bring the troops home from Iraq . This ballot item won in 24 of the 32 towns, and narrowly lost in 7 of 8 towns; in one town a proposal to "stay the course" was defeated. The initiative was organized byWisconsin Network for Peace & Justice, and the Liberty Tree Foundation. VotersForPeace organized telephone calls on April 3 to 49,000 people with a message from a military mom urging them to vote (Listen)
