[quote="Alex"]Cynthia McKinney filed Articles of Impeachment against Bush, Cheney and Rice in 2006 She stood up for the voters of 2000 and 2004. She walked out to protest the seating of Bush's Florida electors and she voted against Bush's Ohio electors on January 6, 2005. She opposed the war and the Patriot Act from the start. Unlike other independent candidates, she has paid her dues in Congress and shown that she is a true, progressive peace candidate. She is the one and only independent candidate currently running who could win the election of 2008. Post subject: Cynthia McKinney also opposed the FIRST Iraq War!
Cynthia McKinney was attacked by Republicans and Democrats alike for her opposition to "Operation Desert Storm" back in 1991.
Barack Obama is being portrayed as a "peace candidate" but compare his record on opposing war to Cynthia McKinney's and he comes up short.
Senator Obama gives us a glimpse of what his administration's foreign policy will look like in a recent interview with Larry King on CNN, in which he praises George H. W. Bush and calls the Gulf War "extremely successful."
Here is an excerpt:
LARRY KING: A couple of quick things, Senator. Would you, in your
administration, make use of Bill Clinton?
BARACK OBAMA: Absolutely. I think that, you know, Bill Clinton is a
brilliant statesman and politician, and I think that any president
would want to use his skills and his relationships around the world.
By the way, I would reach out to the first George Bush. You know,
one of the things that I think George H.W. Bush doesn't get enough
credit for was his foreign policy team and the way that he helped
negotiate the end of the Cold War and prosecuted the Gulf War. That
cost us 20 billion dollars. That's all it cost. It was extremely
successful. I think there were a lot of very wise people. So I want
a bipartisan team that can help to provide me good advice and
counsel when I'm president of the United States.
I find Barack Obama's perspective on the Gulf War and the first Bush regime extremely problematic, and I will have no problem voting for the Green Party candidate in November, which will most likely be Cynthia McKinney. Sen. Obama is a shade better than Clinton and head and shoulders above the Bushites, but a peace candidate he is not.
Check out Cynthia's website for information on how to support her campaign: http://www.runcynthiarun.org (or support one of the other Green Party candidates listed at http://gp.org). The Green Party has always been the Peace Party.
